Since 1979  Ron Alex has been licensed and practicing in the public sector, with an emphasis on renovations for municipal buildings, public schools, and housing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as well as historic restoration work, building envelope improvements, and new construction. Ronald Alex formed Boston Bay Architects to specialize in three distinct municipal and government areas – historical preservation, green repair/renovations and accessibility, and master planning/capital needs studies for schools.

As co-founder of Boston Bay Architects, Inc., Ron has developed specialties in historic preservation, public sector work, building envelope issues and sustainability. Prior to establishing BBA, he had co-founded the Boston architecture firm, LPBA Associates and had worked with major national developers like The Rouse Company (who created the design for the new town of Columbia, Maryland, and designed regional shopping centers).

Ron has extensive experience in a variety of architectural projects.  His portfolio includes:  renovation and site design for Emmanuel College; new master plan for $55 million construction and renovation of Essex Agricultural and Technical Institute; $12.4 million facility upgrade and facility needs study for nine schools in Randolph, MA; and area wide public space needs study for the Town of Stow, MA.  In addition, housing-specific projects include Main Street housing in Charlestown, MA; 26 new housing units in West Roxbury, MA; and 56 new housing units in Boston, MA.
